Workshops to teach resilience to teenagers

Sonora, CA – Teens can learn life skills through a series of workshops in Sonora.

Local non-profit organization IOOF Sonora is running a series of time-limited workshops for local teens ages 15-18 called Adulting 101. The group has provided this list of offered workshops:

  • Building Resilience: An interactive workshop designed to help teens in our community deal with common issues in early adulthood and resolve them in healthy ways. It’s May 16 from 3-6 p.m. and each attendee will receive a $25 Amazon gift card at the end of the class.
  • Finding and Keeping a Job: an interactive workshop designed to help first-time job seekers know where and how to look for a job; how to write a CV with little or no work experience; how to prepare for job interviews; and maintaining employment once a job has been obtained. This workshop is June 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Cooking Basics with Eric Davis: A hands-on workshop by Eric Davis, local chef and restaurateur. This course will help young people learn about cooking and prepare delicious meals! This workshop will take place at Industrial Food Works on July 12 at 1 p.m.
  • Two additional workshops – Personal Finance and Basic Auto Repair – will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

The organizers specify that places are limited, so pre-registration for all workshops is required. Click here to register. Any questions should be directed to IOOF Sonora via email at [email protected]
