Workshops dig memories and landscapes to create a Morenci almanac | The era of copper

When Sam Oberter followed the lights of Morenci off the highway and into town about five years ago, he entered a new world.

“I had never seen a copper mine before,” he told a handful of residents on folding chairs in the former Clifton train depot turned into a visitor center on Saturday. “I didn’t know there was a company town left in the United States.”
