Seminar on “Organized Special Education” on the South Campus of KU

Anantnag, December 29: Kthe south campus of ashmir university organized a one-day seminar on “special education: issues and challenges”.
Special education experts including Padma Shri Javaid Ahmad Tak gave special lectures on various facets of special education and how it can transform society into a truly inclusive place for children with disabilities.
In his welcoming speech, the Director of the South Campus, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday, stressed the importance of a close link between traditional classroom education and societal issues. He appreciated the Department of Education, South Campus, the main organizer of the seminar, for raising awareness on important societal concerns, including special education.
Javaid Ahmad Tak, in his opening speech, spoke about the concept of special education, its current status, concerns and future challenges. He called for a collective and collaborative effort to facilitate education for children with disabilities while removing barriers, if any, in the process.
Shaheel Mohammad, Head of Special Cell of Student Welfare Department at KU and Tariq Bashir, Assistant Professor, Degree College Utrsoo also spoke on the occasion and offered their views on the issue of l special education with reference to Jammu and Kashmir.
Academic Coordinator, Department of Education Moomin Jan led the discussion of the seminar, which began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Amir Ashraf, a student of MA Education.
Special children from the Zaiba-Apa Inclusive Education Institute gave a hands-on demonstration of the use of the brail system and the use of sign language and other related activities.
Dr MZ Rafaqi cast a vote of thanks.
