Only About Children extends the reach of Food Ambassadors with workshops in the center

Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Provider Only on children extended the work of its food ambassador, Tommy Pham, a candidate for MasterChef 2021 and 2022, by inviting him virtually to its services across the country to offer specialized cooking workshops.

Children present Brighton East Kids Only were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr. Pham in person, baking oatmeal cookies and salty roll lollipops from Tommy.

Mr. Pham has developed special culinary events exclusively for Only About Children as part of their food and nutrition focus. Families at Only About Children also enjoyed MasterChef-quality family recipes and how-to videos designed by the chef.

The events were designed in collaboration with Only About Children’s education and health team, explained Only About Children spokesperson Veronica Makiv, to provide education and health learning outcomes. as part of the Grow Curriculum Providers.

“These special cooking events are meant to engage kids and get them excited about cooking,” she explained.

While some families or providers may be hesitant to involve children in the cooking experience, fearing the mess and mistakes, it’s important to involve them, Pham said.

“When children are involved in the cooking experience, they are more likely to try food and enjoy it, especially when everyone is eating together. Mental barriers seem to fall for children as they learn about food, prepare it themselves, and share the experience with others,” he explained.

The workshops will take place in May and June. For more information on Only About Children please see here.
