Lake County partners with a national nonprofit organization to focus on community beautification through the use of flowers, plants, and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements.
With the help of the Keep Lake Beautiful (KLB) Advisory Board, the county became the first county-wide host chapter of America in Bloom (AIB). As host chapter, all Lake County municipalities were invited to participate in the America in Bloom national awards program. The program offers in-person coaching by a team of specially trained counselors and a detailed community assessment with comprehensive recommendations for community transformation.
A community transformation includes celebrating heritage, environmental efforts, and increasing outdoor activities and facilities that lead to a healthier community. The first four Lake County communities to join the National AIB Awards Program are the Town of Tavares, the Town of Groveland, the Town of Astatula and the Town of Mount Dora.
As host, KLB will offer support to local municipalities by organizing round tables to contribute to the success of their participation. During roundtables, city representatives can come together to share ideas, success stories and discuss projects that will benefit the citizens of their community. KLB hosted the first roundtable on February 22. The round tables are open to the public.
