IOM, NCCPIM and TIP Host Media Workshops on Countering Migrant Smuggling

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt organized a three-day regional media workshop in collaboration with the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking (NCCPIM&TIP).

The three-day workshop for journalists took place this week and brought together a wide range of stakeholders and senior media experts, including a professor of practice in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the AUC, Mervat Abu Oaf, and others.

During the workshop, journalists discussed harmonized approaches and concepts related to raising public awareness of the risks associated with irregular migration, human trafficking and safe migration practices, according to IOM Egypt .

Several speakers shared storytelling methodologies during a masterclass at this successful event, along with some who revealed how their efforts have made a difference in combating and preventing illegal migration and human trafficking.

The workshop was funded by the Regional Development and Protection Program (RDPP) of the European Union.
It was attended by 19 senior journalists from nine Arab countries (Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Sudan and Bahrain).
