Conferences – Confesercenti Partner Fri, 08 Oct 2021 22:05:20 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Conferences – Confesercenti Partner 32 32 Notes, injury updates from Seahawks press conferences after landslide loss to Rams Fri, 08 Oct 2021 21:44:51 +0000

Thursday night was a disaster for the Seahawks, as they fell to 2-3 while losing starting quarterback Russell Wilson to a finger injury. We haven’t heard from Russ after the game, but here’s what you need to know from the press conferences with Pete Carroll, Quandre Diggs, Tyler Lockett and Geno Smith.

Let’s start with the most important news: Pete Carroll’s updates on Russell Wilson’s finger injury.

We’ve received a few more updates on Pete Carroll’s injuries on wide receivers Penny Hart and Gerald Everett.

Quandre Diggs was fuming about the Seahawks’ defensive performance after the game. The Seahawks have allowed over 450 yards in four straight games, becoming the fourth team since merger to do so. No team has ever allowed 450 yards in five straight games, and no team has ever won more than six games in a season after enjoying a four-game streak.

Despite the terrible defensive performance, the Seahawks still had a chance to win late, but Geno Smith threw a late interception on a bad no-call for pass interference. Tyler Lockett claimed responsibility for the play.

I’ll try to end Thursday’s press conference notes with a few positives here. Michael Dickson had a cool double punt, and Geno Smith looked like he was ready for NFL football.

Let’s move on to some updates on Pete Carroll’s Friday presser injuries.

Carroll was also on 710ESPN Seattle this morning to talk about Russell Wilson’s injury and last night’s game.

Here’s a little more on the implications of Carroll’s description of the injury:

CO law enforcement receives lesson on drone safety at national conference in Bend Thu, 07 Oct 2021 00:38:45 +0000

(Update: added information and video)

Day 2 of Law Enforcement Drone Association National Conference kicks off in Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – More than 40 law enforcement agencies are gaining first-hand drone safety experience this week at a national conference in Bend.

The Law Enforcement Drone Association is hosting its second annual sold-out national conference this week at the Christian Life Center. Law enforcement officers are learning “best practices and standardization of drone use in public safety,” the organization said.

Brandon Karr, a Texas police officer and LEDA member, told NewsChannel 21 that the organization wanted to expose legal agencies to the latest drone technologies, but the ultimate goal was to turn LEDA training courses into a standardized practice for all law enforcement agencies.

“We’re trying to develop this into the leading standard that every agency is going to use for basic pilot proficiency,” Karr said.

At the Bend Police Department, drones have been in use since 2016. The department has nine certified pilots, according to Sgt. Tom Pine, who is also a member of the LEDA board of directors.

“We use them for missing persons and search and rescue missions,” Pine said. “We are able to choose the right drone for the right scenario. “

As drones become more ubiquitous in law enforcement agencies, Karr said they are creating a safer environment not only for police but also for communities.

“Drones offer a perspective that we normally wouldn’t have,” Karr said. “It’s a huge benefit for the community… to implement technologies to provide a safer community.”

Law enforcement officers receive classroom instruction, then learn outdoor flight scenarios. Other items on the agenda include risk mitigation and liability, FAA updates, and night flight procedures. The conference will continue for two more days.

MDI Biology Laboratory Hosts First African Turquoise Killifish Conference Tue, 05 Oct 2021 20:04:00 +0000

The biennial event will serve as a focal point for the research community in the Americas

BAR HARBOR – While it is the elephants and other large animals that congregate in East African waterholes that catch the attention of safari enthusiasts, the most fascinating inhabitant of these ephemeral pools can be a small, guppy-like fish called the turquoise African killifish or ATK (Nothobranchius furzeri).

Also known as the “instant fish” due to its short lifespan, ATK grows, reproduces and ages during the four to six month window of the rainy season, an adaptation to its extreme habitat which makes it more difficult to find. made one of the shorter. existing living vertebrates.
